SAN ANTONIO – Spur’s head coach Gregg Popovich has named Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr one of his assistant coaches for the next two summers.
Kerr played for the team in the 1986 World Championships in Madrid. This will be his first time back with Team USA since 1988.
USA Basketball made the announcement late Thursday, ESPN confirmed. Popovich also added Indiana Pacers head coach Nate McMillan and Villanova head coach Kay Write as assistants.
This coaching staff will lead Team USA through the 2019 World Cup in China and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
