SAN ANTONIO – As the school season gets underway, drivers will now pay the price for ignoring school bus stop signs.
Starting this fall, at least 200 San Antonio Independent School District buses will be equipped with cameras.
The buses will automatically take photos of drivers who pass through the stop signs without stopping, which will result in a $300 citation.
The goal is to have at least 30 percent of buses equipped with the cameras by the end of the year.
More than 8,000 students ride the bus to school in San Antonio every day.
