SAN ANTONIO – The new IKEA on North Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 is set to open ahead of schedule.

A spokesperson for IKEA said they are midway through the construction phase. They believe the doors could open as soon as January 2019.

“What will be unique to this store is that we really look at the costumers that live here. And, try to offer solutions based on how people live in South Texas opposed to how they live in Central Texas. So, that could be outdoor living spaces. It could be basements. It could be other things, but it’s really about focusing on the local costumers,” said IKEA Public Affairs Manager Latisha Bracy.

The Live Oak store will be one level and almost the same size as the other two Texas locations.

IKEA plans on having hiring fairs this Fall to fill an estimated 250 positions.

The Live Oak location will be IKEA’s 49 store in the U.S.
