San Antonio – May 25 marks National Missing Children’s Day, and to help find children, like missing Ava Baldwin, the Texas Center for the Missing has launched a new billboard campaign.
Ava’s father, David Hopper, remains hopeful he will one day be reunited with his missing daughter.
“Everyday is hard because everyday you wake up expecting to see today is going to be the day,” Hopper said.
Ava was reported missing in San Antonio three years ago. Since then, Hopper and countless others have been trying to find her. Just last month, she turned nine-years-old.
“Holidays, birthdays, Thanksgiving. Ah, all those significant days that you think this is going to be the day to come home,” Hopper said.
Ava was last seen on September 17, 2015. She is believed to be with her mother, Kathryn Baldwin.
“We’ve been in a court battle for about the last nine years for custody. I was awarded joint custody. About four years ago, she stopped giving my time with my daughter. And then, I got a phone call from the school said she’d been missing for 21 days,” said Hopper.
A missing person’s case was opened and felony warrant was issued for Ava’s mother.
“Right now, we don’t know where she’s at. Ah, we’re just praying that hoping that wherever she is, God is protecting her,” said Hopper.
To help find Ava, the Texas Center for the Missing has launched a month-long billboard PSAs across the state. Her photo and other information will be on display for more than 12-hundred views per day.
“I think it’s amazing. They say it’s going to be shown to over one-million people – and that’s incredible,” said Hopper.
Anyone with information is urged to call police at 210-207-7660.
