SAN ANTONIO — Bobcats are on the prowl in San Antonio this late spring.
A bobcat was caught on video in a North Side neighborhood on Wednesday.
The bobcat was seen near the Whispering Oaks Neighborhood on the city's North Side, very close to the 300-acre Phil Hardberger Park and greenbelts.
Blaine Matera, who saw and videotaped the large bobcat, said the wild animal has been hanging around his neighborhood the past couple of weeks. He said he saw the feline sitting in a neighbor's front yard and it's clear the animal is not a house cat.
Matera kept his cool until the bobcat made his way back to the greenbelt.
"I thought it was a little unusual because this is a residential neighborhood, it is wooded and there is greenbelts and stuff like that, but for a cat to be out like that during the day is pretty odd," Matera said
Other wildlife common to urban areas in Texas are the opossum, white-tailed deer, skunk, armadillo and coyotes.
