SAN ANTONIO- A historic San Antonio park is using art to spread awareness on its preservation efforts.

A number of canvasses lined the San Antonio River on Saturday as artists worked to paint each one.

The river flows through Brackenridge Park, where many historic features are included. Artists spent the day in the north area of the park capturing the San Antonio River,Water Works Pump House No. 1, Bath House, Beline Iron Bridge and Joske Pavilion.

This event fulfills one of the goals of the Brackenridge Park Conservancy which is to raise awareness of the park through special programing that is free and open to the public.

"We invited artists from Hausmann Millworks to be in this northern area of the park to paint where the bond projects are going to begin, so we can do this on a regular basis before the works starts and after the work starts," said Lynn Bobbitt of the conservancy.

All artwork painted during the event will be sold at the park's conservancy office. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Brackenridge Park.
