SAN ANTONIO — A female San Antonio police officer is in stable condition after being struck by a pickup truck on Saturday.

According to San Antonio police, about 9:20 p.m. detective C. Ryan was standing at the edge of the roadway and preparing to add more flares to a flare line for a road closure. A Ford F-150 drove straight toward the flare line and never moved over to the other lane. The Ford braked, swerved toward the officer and hit her.

Police pulled over the Ford and identified the driver as 55-year-old Jesus Gonzalez Rodriguez. Police also found he had two children riding in the truck. He was evaluated and found to be intoxicated.

He was arrested for intoxication assault of a police officer and endangering a child. He was booked into the Bexar County Jail and his bond is set at $70,000.

Ryan was transported to University Hospital and treated for minor injuries. She is a 22 year veteran of the police department.

The original incident police responded to was a fatal motorcycle crash. According to police, a man operating a 1996 red and black cruiser style motorcycle was driving on westbound SW Loop 410, in the right lane, just west of Somerset road. A beige 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling in the right lane and rear ended the motorcycle. The man on the motorcycle was transported to SAMMC and pronounced deceased. The driver of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was evaluated at the scene for intoxication. Criminal charges are pending toxicology results. The motorcyclist's next of kin have not yet been notified.
