SAN ANTONIO - There's a lot of anticipation surrounding the grand opening for the third Bibliotech.
"Quite frankly, there's nothing like this in the country," said Bibliotech adminstrator Laura Cole.
It's been a little more than a year since construction started on the project in the East Meadows community. It's set to open April 19.
"We are in the eleventh hour right now and coming down to the last-minute details. We are so excited," Cole said.
Investments continue to pour in, from dollars on the table to even more in commitments, allowing for funding for a permanent staff.
"We are at a million dollars for this Bibliotech and it's going to be fabulous we are very excited. It's the first time we've had a maker's station," said Hidalgo Foundation's Tracy Wolff.
This location will also have a children's space, a community room, and study rooms -- filled with opportunities to learn about robotics and technology.
"Within the area, of course we're located near the Spurs arena. One of our contributors is the Bexar County Advisory Board and included in their gift will be tickets for the children, something to the effect if you read 25 books you'll get two free tickets to go to a Spurs game or the rodeo. So we're throwing in some things like that for the children," Wolff said.
And it's not just for kids. Adults will also be able to receive Comptia training.
"Those are IT certifications that many employers and people in the IT field require and they can really help jump-start a career," Cole said.
