SAN ANTONIO - For parishes like Prince of Peace on San Antonio's west side, every Friday during Lent is Fish Friday, and it has been for quite a while.

"We've been doing it pretty much consistently for 10 plus years, and off and on before that for about 20. So about 30 years total," said Russell Williams of the Knights of Columbus.

About 500 pieces of shrimp and about 750 pieces of fish - along with some healthier sandwiches - were prepared Friday evening by the Knights of Columbus.

The Lenten season tradition draws hundreds of people to this church and hundreds more to dozens of churches across San Antonio. Those taking part in the fish fry say it all makes for relaxing Friday evening while doing something good.

"Just to come out here, hanging out with the guys in a great environment. Hanging out with the community, doing it for charity. Nothing better than that," said Williams.

Prince of Peace Catholic Church is hosting a fish fry every Friday during lent from 6 to 8 p.m. They're located at 7893 Grissom Road. The community is invited to go by and purchase a plate. All the money goes to charity.
