SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a North Central gas station.

The Valero convenience store at 3820 San Pedro Ave. was open for business, and was held up at approximately 3:40 a.m. Thursday morning.

Only one employee was working at the time when he heard the front door chime and saw the two suspects enter the store.

The suspects had their faces covered with clothing. Suspect one displayed a silver handgun and pointed it at the clerk.

The clerk, afraid for his life, stepped away from the registers. At that time, a second suspect pried open the registers and took money.

The suspects also took several "scratch off" lottery tickets. Both suspects ran out of the store and were not located.

A second witness was inside the store sitting at the counter. When that witness saw the suspects enter the store, he pretended to be asleep. The suspects did not bother him, police say.

The clerk said he did not recognize the suspects and no one was injured.
