SAN ANTONIO — As the March deadline approaches for ending or extending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, The University of Texas San Antonio wants to make sure its students have the support they need.

The Dreamers Resource Center opened this week. University staff will help students with questions related to financial aid, admissions, and more. It's the first of its kind in Texas. At this time, the services are only available to UTSA students who are DACA recipients or undocumented.

The new office is the physical expansion of the Dreamers Resource Center website that launched last year in September, after Trump administration announced the end of DACA.

JOIN THE DISCUSSION: Spectrum News' Facebook group, Texas Immigration Exchange, is a place for Texas friends and neighbors to discuss all things related to immigration, from DACA to Dreamers to personal stories.

“So we know that there’s many, many students out there that don’t know, or parents, that don’t know where to begin,” UT System Student Regent Jaciel Castro said. “They don’t what questions to ask. Especially as many of them are Spanish speakers. They don’t know how to put those questions into sentences that will lead to support services."

Students can call to schedule an appointment or show up for questions in person. UTSA does not release any personal information of its students and everything is kept confidential.
