HOUSTON -- Texas Gov. Greg Abbott got in on the Astro's celebration on Friday.

The governor braved the crowd, and told a reporter he is very proud of the team and the city.

"I am so proud of the Houston Astros. I am so proud of the way they are committed to the city of Houston. I am so proud of the great city of Houston, the way they responded to the challenge. Just like the way the team responded to the challenge,” he said.

Earlier this week, Gov. Abbott asked Congress for an additional $61 billion to rebuild after Harvey.  The Houston area was one of the hardest hit.

Some of the funding Gov. Abbott asked for will go towards housing assistance and rebuilding efforts in the city.
