SAN ANTONIO - Brackenridge High School students and staff are celebrating a century for the institution.
The school was first dedicated on Nov. 1, 1917, and on Wednesday a rededication ceremony highlighted the students' talents. The marching band also performed, culinary students made refreshments and media classes documented the event.
"We are celebrating 100 years of success, of memories. We are remembering our struggles, our accomplishments and definitely everything Brackenridge is about," said Principal Yesenia Cordova.
An alumnus from 1942 showed up to Wednesday's rededication.
In 1974, Brackenridge High School was renamed Phillis Wheatley High School before switching back in 1988.
