SAN ANTONIO - The news was hard to believe for many parents.

"I said that's bad, that's real bad," said Angie Talamantez. "I saw the police man and I said oh no, what's going on? Because I had never seen that here."

But Northside ISD officials confirmed it's true. An eighth grade girl was allegedly beat up in a bathroom at Jordan Middle School. The alleged attacker was the dad of two other students at the same school.

"Very plainly what happened yesterday was unacceptable," said Barry Perez, executive direction of communications at Northside ISD.

NISD officials say the father and a woman arrived at the campus about an hour before classes started Wednesday for a scheduled meeting with a school administrator. But rather than staying up front, they instead went down the hall into that restroom.

"When this incident occurred, there were some staff in the hallways that actually, as these individuals were leaving the restroom, they were able to say 'hey we need to go to the office,'" said Perez.

School officials say the man was being questioned by police when he said he needed to move his car. He left and didn't come back, "leaving behind the adult female who was initially not cooperating with the officer and did not provide accurate ID," said Perez.

Northside ISD police are investigating and plan to file charges.

"We definitely didn't hear anything about it at all. It's crazy," said parent Diane Miles.

The district says parents received a letter the next day alerting them to the incident.

"I know the concern was raised as to why that letter didn't go home sooner. But I know the campus was waiting to collect as much information as they could," said Perez.

NISD is now looking at safety protocols on campus but assures parents their children are safe.
