Karina Kling is a Midwest native and a Syracuse University graduate with a master’s degree in broadcast journalism. Karina began her journalism career after graduation in the capital city of Lincoln, Nebraska, where she jumped at every opportunity to cover political stories. From there, Karina knew covering politics was her calling. Fast forward to now, Karina has a decade of experience covering politics, first as a political reporter and now as anchor on Capital Tonight for Spectrum News Austin.
Karina is an Emmy-nominated reporter and proud Associated Press Award winner. In each story Karina discusses on air, her goal is to get the various communities across Austin engaged in the politics and elections that affect them so that each individual has the opportunity to have their voice heard. More so, Karina doubles as a professor at Austin Community College, sharing her knowledge and experience of journalism to students across Austin.
In her spare time, you can find Karina playing piano, singing show tunes, working out, and, most of all, trying to keep up with her beloved family and friends.
