SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio man has plead guilty to pointing a laser at a television news helicopter last October.

Christopher B. Evans admitted to a single count of aiming a laser pointer at a flying aircraft.

The 25 year old could be sentenced to up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.

The helicopter was flying north of the airport when it was hit by the laser.

According to a news release from the FBI, San Antonio was among the top 15 cities in the country in 2015 for pilots’ reports of laser strikes, with nearly 100. Lasers can temporarily blind pilots and endanger lives.
