Every one of the GOP Comal County Sheriff-candidates are knocking on doors, putting up campaign signs, and sharing their message.

"Hi. Nice to meet you," candidate James Walker said as he knocked on doors.

"We're gonna put this one up on the fence right there," as candidate Mark Reynolds posted a sign.

"I spent 40 years in law enforcement," Walker added.

"The training officer. The DARE officer," Reynolds continued.

"And I'm running for Comal County Sheriff," added candidate Josh Dean.

The fourth candidate Brent Paulus was not available for an on-camera interview.

On his website, Paulus says he will embrace the "Courtesy, Service and Protection" motto, use innovative programs to advance the department and be fiscally responsible.

James Walker, Mark Reynolds and Josh Dean all took time from their campaign schedule,

to talk about why they deserve to win the Republican primary race.

"Grassroots effort. I get out, I talk to the people. I find out what their concerns are. I tell them what my concerns are. And that's a community effort as far as I am concerned," candidate Walker added.

"As the population comes, we'll address the issues: burglaries, thefts. That's one of our biggest concerns, construction theft," Reynolds added.

"The big difference between me and the other candidates is I bring a wider breathe of experience," Dean added.

The candidates all spoke of the recently voter-approved $75 million jail, and reducing crime.

"I'm the only candidate that has experience with critical infrastructure, that I do at San Antonio Water System," Dean added.

"Working with the community is the answer to the problem," Walker added.

"It's not always throwing more people at the problem, it's addressing what the issues are," Reynolds concluded.

Early voting in this race begins next month on the 16th.
