SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texans are taught to 'remember the Alamo' - but soon they'll be able to experience it first hand thanks to a new permanent attraction under construction in the Rivercenter Mall.

“Battle for Texas: The Experience,” brings the world famous Battle of the Alamo to life.

The 22,000-square-foot attraction will feature 11 galleries filled with 250 artifacts and multimedia reenactments of the 13-day battle.

Among those artifacts includes Santa Anna’s uniform, portraits of William B. Travis, Sam Houston and James Bowie, Davy Crockett’s “long knife,” and a cannonball shot at Santa Anna’s Army.

"I want to put guests on that journey of the early settlers and by the time you get into the Alamo, it is actually a fully 3-dimensional set," said David Weiss with Battle for Texas: The Experience. "You can smell the gunpowder, you can see the Mexican soldiers coming up on the outside, so it really is trying to put you in that moment in history."

“Battle for Texas: The Experience,” is scheduled to open in February.

Depending on your age, it will cost between 10 and 20 bucks to see it in person.
