Collins Gardens Elementary School is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

The school threw a party Thursday. Students put on a performance that highlighted the school's history, including a song written by students 25 years ago. Many past graduates were also on hand for the celebration.

"It's beautiful what they have done and what the children are learning, what they have accomplished in the years after we graduated,” Socorro Reyes Morales, who graduated from Collins Garden Elementary in 1948, said.

Each grade is contributing modern mementos to a time capsule.

Collins Garden is named after Finis Foster Collins, who donated farmland for the school.
