DALLAS — Southwest Airlines on Monday evening diverted a flight headed for one Dallas airport to another after a brake issue that required landing on a longer runway, officials say.
Due to an issue with the plane’s anti-skid system, Flight 2547 landed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The flight was initially intended to land 15 miles east at Dallas Love Field.
According to Skybrary, anti-skid systems are designed to minimize aquaplaning and potential tire damage from a plane’s locked wheel.
Southwest says it sent passengers to their original destination on “another aircraft.”
“We appreciate our Customers’ patience, as well as the assistance of our colleagues at DFW and American Airlines in helping us with the aircraft switch. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the Safety of its Customers and Employees,” a statement from the Dallas-based airline read.
