THE COLONY, Texas — Law enforcement rescued 88 animals from a residence in The Colony Tuesday.

According to a press release from the city, a report came in about the property claiming there were dozens of animals living in deplorable conditions. Animal services and police came in quickly to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals involved.

Besides rescuing the animals, The Colony Animal Services, and The Colony Police Department retrieved 22 deceased animals from the property.

Of the living animals, 24 dogs, 45 cats, 12 reptiles and seven mice were rescued. They are currently receiving the veterinary care.

The amount of seized animals exceeds room at animal services, but arrangements have been made with separate boarding facilities and rescue organizations to provide temporary housing and care.

“This operation demonstrates the commitment to protecting all animals in our community,” said Mark Cooper, Director of The Colony Animal Services. “The health and safety of each animal and reptile will be our top priority throughout this entire process.”
