BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man was indicted in federal court Friday for his alleged involvement in the Capitol riots on January 6.

The grand jury indicted Thomas Sibick on 10 charges — five more than what was originally announced last month.

The charges include assaulting or impeding officers, civil disorder, robbery, act of physical violence on Capitol grounds and more.

Court documents allege Sibick assaulted a Metropolitan police officer while at the riot, and buried his police badge in his backyard when he returned to New York.

The court document contains pictures of Sibick, which appear to show him holding a riot shield and allegedly posting on social media during the event, alongside surveillance images.

According to the court document, Sibick maintains he was attempting to pull the officer away from an unsafe situation and ended up grabbing the officer's badge and radio.

At first, Sibick told FBI agents three different stories of where he threw away the radio and badge, but later admitted that he buried the badge and wanted to return it.
