The heat continues for the southern tier of states this afternoon with highs well into the 90s. Cool temperatures remain into the Upper Midwest, the Ohio River Valley and the northeastern U.S where some record cool highs are possible.

 

Low Temperatures Tonight

Mild temperatures linger across the southern half of the U.S. with much cooler air filtering into the northern tier of states.

 

Precipitation Outlook

Rounds of showers and storms are likely across the Central & Southern Plains and mid-Mississippi Valley where flooding may occur. Also, showers and storms likely over portions of the Southeast. A few showers can be expected across the Northeast.
