ST. LOUIS—A person is dead after being struck by an Amtrak train this morning in south St. Louis, according to the St. Louis Fire Department.
The department posted on X that the crash happened in the 4900 block of Connecticut near Kingshighway.
The train left San Antonio, Texas Tuesday scheduled to arrive in Chicago by 1:45 pm Wednesday. An alert on Amtrak.com said at the time Train 22 was stopped due to a tresspasser who came into contact with the train.
Amtrak tells Spectrum News there were 115 passengers and crew onboard and no injuries.
The train was delayed about two hours with a new estimated time of arrival of 4:03 pm.
