ANDERSON, S.C. - Clemson University will play its first home game of the 2024 football season on Saturday. Less than 20 miles away, another institution will play its first-ever college game.

Anderson University is fielding a football team for the first time in history. The school announced plans to start a program in the summer of 2021. The inaugural team features over 100 players and will play an 11-game schedule as a member of the South Atlantic Conference.

Head Coach Bobby Lamb is no stranger to coaching in the area. He previously served as the leader of the Furman program from 2002-2010. Lamb followed that up by taking over a Mercer University program that had not fielded a team in 70 years. Their first season saw them win ten games.

Lamb hopes to get Anderson's program off to a strong start with a win against St Andrews on Saturday at 1 pm. The fan theme is a Gold Out.
