FLORENCE, S.C. - As fans anxiously anticipate the start of the new college football season this weekend, the city of Florence announced it will welcome a new arena football team next season. On Wednesday morning, the South Carolina Ravens held an introductory press conference at the Florence Center, which will also serve as their home venue.

Following some brief opening statements, the team's owner and CEO, Andre Duncan, sat down to answer a few questions. One of them was about his passion behind starting a new franchise.

"I want to give these athletes things we thought we should have had but never got." Said Duncan, "I've always wanted to have my own program, do my own thing." Duncan coached at the high school level for 22 years.

Currently, the team has not named a head coach, but they have set a date for open tryouts which will be on September 22, at Lake Marion High School. The season is slated to begin in March and go through June. Duncan anticipates the Ravens will play 8 home games at the Florence Center.

The Ravens will be a part of the newly formed Professional Arena Independent Association (PAIA). Currently, the league has four other teams in Georgia and Florida.
