COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina representative John McCravy has requested for the Speaker of the House to reassign him to a different committee.

According to a message McCravy shared on Facebook, he is stepping down from his position in the House Judiciary Committee.

“Columbia is a strange place and as the Bible states: "[T]here is a time for everything under heaven..."  There are times for "going along to get along" and there are times when we are called to take a stand for what is right.” Said McCravy.

In a letter to Chairman Weston Newton, McCravy cites philosophical differences as the reason for his request.

Although McCravy has decided to step down as Vice-Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, he still plans to serve on the House Oversight Committee.
