COLUMBIA, S.C. — A record-shattering number of early voters cast their ballot in South Carolina ahead of Election Day.

On Monday, The South Carolina Election Commission (SEC) announced that around 735,400 voters cast their ballot during the first week of the early voting period (Oct. 21 – Oct. 28). This number already surpasses the 561,600 people who voted during the 2022 general election early voting period.

“We are excited to witness such a strong turnout of early voters making their voices heard,” said Howie Knapp, SEC Executive Director. “We expect continued record-breaking participation as we enter the second week of early voting.”

Early voting centers are open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The early voting period will end Saturday, Nov. 2, with Election Day set for Tuesday, Nov. 5.
