COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina voters turned up to the polls in record numbers on opening day of the early voting period.
Officials with the South Carolina Election Commission reported 125,900 votes were cast on Monday, Oct. 21, setting a new record for early voting.
The previous one-day record for day one of early voting was set ahead of the Nov. 2022 General Election with 70,100 votes.
"We are thrilled to see voters embracing the convenience of early voting, and we are anticipating a significant turnout for this election," said Howie Knapp, Executive Director of the State Election Commission (SEC).
Anyone wishing to cast their vote in-person during the early voting period can visit an early center in their county.
- Dates: Now – Saturday, November 2 (closed Sunday, October 27).
- Times: 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Locations: Check scVOTES.gov or contact your county voter registration office.
- Voters will be asked to present Photo ID when checking in to vote.
