Charleston, S.C. — A former member of the Charleston Fire Department is suing the city for allegedly punishing him after speaking out about his station’s condition.
The lawsuit filed by Robert Tackett on March 4th is also backed by the Charleston Firefighters Association’s local 61 Chapter. The suit alleges Tackett reported unsafe working conditions at Station 9 where he worked, however Fire Chief Dan Curia and Deputy Fire Chief Forrest Cockcroft never properly addressed the issue and unfairly punished Tackett for speaking out.
Dan Curia, Forrest Cockcroft, and the City of Charleston are all listed as defendents in the lawsuit. Spectrum News has reached out to the fire department for comment but they have declined to comment due to the pending litigation.
