GREENVILLE, S.C. — The U.S. News and World Report placed Greenville in the 4th spot for its annual 'Best Places to Live' ranking.
Last year Greenville came in at No. 31 out of 150 U.S. cities. Fast forward one year, and the only cities above Greenville are Naples, Florida, Boise, Idaho, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
“Situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Greenville has transformed from a blip on the national map to a bustling metropolis,” according to the report.
Greenville was the only South Carolina city placed in the top ten. Charleston ranks No. 13 this year; Myrtle Beach came in at No. 51 and Spartanburg checks in at No. 59.
To make it on the list, cities must promote a strong job market and quality of life.
U.S. News and World Report says the low cost of living, mild temperatures, and proximity to the mountains make Greenville an attractive destination.
