GREENVILLE, S.C. — On Tuesday, the Greenville Humane Society (GHS) announced an $8.5 million expansion plan it claims will “revolutionize animal care” in the Upstate.

GHS calls the expansion the “Love is a Four-Legged Word” project.

It includes a new 9,260 square foot facility at 305 Airport Rd. just across the street from the Humane Society’s existing location. As well as a 7,950 square foot multipurpose space.

The additions will house:

·      100 more animals

·      A new spay and neuter clinic

·      Public dog training classes

·      Humane education programs

·      Community meeting spaces

·      A pet remembrance garden

·      Birthday party venues

“This incredible new facility will allow us to double our impact, and save more lives than ever before,” according to the GHS website.

Construction on the expansion is expected to last roughly a year. GHS says it hopes to raise $8.5 million to bring the vision to life by winter 2025.
