RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. - The family of a missing South Carolina native, Zelig Williams, is pleading with the community for his safe return.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department held a press conference on Wednesday, where the Williams family shared more information regarding the 28-year-old.

Zelig is well known for his work on Broadway, dancing in productions of “Hamilton” and “MJ The Musical”, but his family say he is so much more than just a dancer.

“He was a light to our family,” said Williams’ cousin Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Williams was last seen leaving his mother’s home in Columbia on Oct. 3rd. His friends then reported that they received an S-O-S alert from Williams’ phone, indicating he may have been in a car accident.

Upon investigation, the sheriff’s department found Williams’ car undamaged at a parking lot for the Palmetto Trail. Investigators say because his disappearance started almost two weeks ago, tips from the community will be critical in finding Williams.

“We have used every means of manpower and technology that is available,” said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.

Williams’ disappearance has garnered the attention of the nation, especially among the Broadway theater community, including Hugh Jackman.

The actor, who worked with Williams in “The Greatest Showman” tour, posted Williams’ picture on his Instagram feed this month.

“Zelig we love you and are praying for your safe return,” Jackman wrote.

If you or anyone you know has information about Williams’ whereabouts, you’re encouraged to contact the Richland County Sheriff’s department directly or call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
