COLUMBIA, S.C. — Former Gamecock and Las Vegas Aces star, A’ja Wilson became the fourth player in WNBA history to win the league’s MVP three times.

On Sunday, the league named Wilson as the 2024 MVP after collecting all 67 first-place votes from a national panel, making this the second time she’s received the honor after a unanimous decision. She’s the second player in WNBA history to take home the award after such a vote.

During her time at the University of South Carolina, Wilson helped lead the Gamecocks to their first NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship in 2017 and set the all-time leading scorer record in 2018. Later that year, the South Carolina native was drafted as the first overall pick by the Las Vegas Aces.

This season marks the third time Wilson took home the title as Most Valuable Player. She previously won in 2020 and 2022.

On Sept. 15, Wilson became the first WNBA player to score 1,000 points in a season, smashing the single season scoring record of 912 points set by Jewell Loyd last season.

The 28-year-old has since become the first player to lead the WNBA in rebounds, points and blocks in one season alone.
