SAN MARCOS, Texas – The San Marcos Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide.

  • Happened early Sunday morning
  • Second homicide of 2019 for San Marcos

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday, the San Marcos officers responded to the 1200 block of Hilltop Drive for a report of shots fired with one person shot in the head.

Witnesses said Brihana Landrum, 24, had been shot in the head by her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Adrian Diaz. Landrum and Diaz had been involved in an on-again, off-again relationship for several years.

Diaz fled the scene in his vehicle. Landrum’s family members attempted to take her to the hospital but she died on the way. A short time later, San Marcos Police Communications received a request for EMS to respond to a location in Guadalupe County for a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The description of the vehicle matched that of the vehicle in which Diaz was seen leaving the crime scene. First responders were able to confirm that it was Diaz.

Detectives from the San Marcos Police Department and the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Department are conducting a joint investigation. This is the second homicide in San Marcos for 2019. Earlier in the year, two people were arrested in connection with a fatal robbery.
