SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The San Marcos Police Department has arrested two men in connection with a homicide-robbery reported on Wednesday.

According to the police department, investigators have been pursuing all leads in this case since the crime was reported on Wednesday morning, and with the help of observant citizens, were able to identify James Zapata Jr. and Martin Garcia Jr. as suspects late Friday morning.

The victim, identified as Aaron Peterman, was found in the Park North Condos in the 1600 block of Aquarena Springs on Wednesday morning with a single gunshot wound.

Detectives believe that a drug-related robbery was central to this crime, and the investigation will be ongoing for multiple weeks.

Both Garcia Jr. and Zapata Jr. have been charged with Capital Murder. Both are being held in Hays County Jail and will appear before the judge to have bond set sometime Friday.

This is the first homicide in San Marcos this year, and there was only one in the city in 2018.
