PALM BAY, Fla. — All southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near mile marker 172 in Palm Bay have been reopened after an earlier fatal crash.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigating the incident called the crash a hit-and-run that killed two people.
FHP later identified the victims as surveyors, who were working alongside the highway.
It happened at about 9:50 a.m. southbound at mile marker 172 in Palm Bay.
FHP officials report the vehicle that hit them and the suspected driver were both located in Palm Beach County. Troopers say that person is in custody.
The roadway was closed for about two hours.
Troopers were looking for a semi-truck with damage to its front grill and right headlight.
