A New Year's resolution for many is to stay active and healthy. Well, according to the Centers for Disease and Control, several viruses are surging across the U.S.
COVID-19, the flu and RSV are among the illnesses on the rise.
According to wastewater data, COVID-19 levels are high, while influenza and RSV are considered moderate.
Officials say cases of the stomach bug, caused by norovirus, are also surging. Doctors say symptoms like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea typically kick in 12-48 hours after it gets into your system. Health officials say norovirus is very contagious, so it's important to practice proper hygiene and wash your hands.
"Even after you feel better and you shed the virus, you can still spread it to others. And the virus can live on surfaces, can live in water and can live in food. And it can live for weeks," Dr. James Alexander of the Onondaga County Health Department said.
Alexander said symptoms typically subside after a few days.
