A Watertown couple are among the victims of the limousine crash in Schoharie on Saturday that killed 20 people.

Mary and Rob Dyson were fitness instructors at Star Spangled Crossfit in Watertown. They were out celebrating the 30^th birthday of one of Mary’s sisters Saturday night.

New York State Police issued a statement Tuesday afternoon confirming the Dysons among the 17 passengers killed in the crash.

Mary was employed by Upstate Construction, which is located in Syracuse, but she worked out of the Watertown Office. She was also an Army veteran and CrossFit coach.

Rob, a senior estimator at Stebbins Engineering & Manufacturing in Watertown, graduated in 2002, from Mynderse Academy, which is in Seneca Falls. In a statement, the Seneca Falls Central School District called Rob “a person of great character and always thinking of others. He was well-liked by all. He was a great family person.”

The couple both graduated from Clarkson University in 2008. University staff say the news has been difficult, as many alumni and staff have been impacted by their deaths.

"It makes us realize and come together and really think about the friendships that we made while we are here. And so I encourage those alums to reach out. I encourage those alums to reach out to each other especially in a time like this,” said Matt Draper, Clarkson University interim vice president for Development and Alumni Relations.

The couple’s daycare provider told Spectrum News her heart goes out to the family, especially because their son Isaac's birthday is in the next few weeks.
