An organization that provides substance abuse treatment in Queens is getting a boost from the governor.

Samaritan Daytop Village will get $350,000 of the $1.75 million being allocated by Governor Andrew Cuomo toward the creation of five new recovery community and outreach centers.

This addition brings the total number of recovery centers in the state up to 14, with one in every state economic development zone and in each of the five boroughs of New York City, according to a press release from the governor’s office.

"Addiction devastates the lives of too many New Yorkers and their families, but recovery from addiction is attainable with the right support," Cuomo said in a statement. "New Yorkers in every part of the state will now will have the recovery-focused resources and supports they need to make their recovery possible, bringing us another step closer to a stronger and healthier New York for all."

The new centers will provide health, wellness and other critical support to individuals and families who are recovering from a substance use disorder or are seeking recovery services for a family member or friend.

The Samaritan Daytop Village program will be located at 147-32 Jamaica Avenue.
