BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- For 11-year-old Parker Hysick, there’s almost nothing that makes his eyes light up more than watching his favorite NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“They’re like my favorite in everything,” said Parker Hysick

Cheering on the Steelers has helped Parker get through some difficult times.

Parker was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of seven.

When the Make-A-Wish Foundation called to see what they could do for Parker, he knew just what to ask for.

“He knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted a Steelers man cave," said Make-A-Wish Wish Granter Megan LeBlanc. "There was nothing else in his mind."

“It’s never changed. He was seven when he was diagnosed and he’s 11 now. So we kind of waited to see if it changed at all, and it never has,” said Parker’s Mother Melissa Hysick.

On Sunday, Parker’s wish was granted.

The Make-A-Wish team partnered with Martin Custom Homes to deck out his basement with a field-like carpet, surround sound, and a 100” projector.

“He wanted a place where he could come with his friends, with his family where he could kind of be in something that he loves while also forgetting about everything else in life,” said LeBlanc.

LeBlanc says Parker will receive a surprise in the mail from the Steelers in a couple of days.
