MANNSVILLE, N.Y. -- Parts of the North Country are getting hit with some heavy snow Monday making for a slippery ride on the roads.

The Tug Hill Plateau is especially seeing quite a bit of accumulation. There is a lot of snow on the ground in the village of Adams, but the plows are out cleaning up the roads.

The snow may have come as a surprise to some after the warm weekend the region just saw, but North Country residents say they were ready.

"Luckily we kind of knew this was coming -- battened down all the windows, plastic over all the doors and the windows I could in the house.  And got gas ready for the snow blowers," said Gerald Wratten, an Adams resident.

A lake effect snow warning is in place in Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego Counties until early Tuesday morning.
