Former Knicks star Charles Oakley will hold a news conference next week to address an altercation this week at Madison Square Garden that got him banned indefinitely from the arena.
The incident happened Wednesday night after Oakley got into a fight with security during the game.
Knicks and MSG owner James Dolan says the move is to ensure the safety of fans and staff at the arena.
The Knicks claim Oakley was being abusive before security surrounded him, but Oakley denies any wrongdoing.
Oakley is facing assault and criminal trespassing charges, and is due back in court in April.
Speaking on the Michael Kay Show, Dolan says Oakley's behavior ruined the fun of the game.
"Everybody has a right to come to that game, come to those games and enjoy them," Dolan said. "And no one has the right to take that away from everyone else. And in this case that did happen, so we are going put the ban in place. And hopefully it won't be forever."
In a tweet, Oakley says he loves the Knicks and thanked NBA players past and present for their support.
