Dr. Robert Montgomery, director of the NYU Langone Transplant Institute, has been named to Time’s annual list of the 100 most influential people of the year.

Dr. Montgomery made international headlines last year after performing a transplant on a woman who became the longest-living recipient of a genetically engineered pig kidney.

He joined NY1’s Rocco Vertuccio Sunday on “Weekends on 1” to discuss the honor and his groundbreaking work in the field of transplant surgery.
