Legendary comedian George Wallace is known for making people laugh, and it’s what he aims to do in his new Prime Video series, "Clean Slate." But he also addresses serious issues within the LGBTQ community with his co-star, actress Laverne Cox.
Her character left their Alabama home as a young man and returns from New York as a woman.
"It's a new life, ‘Clean Slate,’ it's all about starting over," said Wallace. "What I like about it is that everybody deserves a chance to start over, forgive, tolerance and love, and that's what we're doing. Of course, I didn't understand what Laverne was going through as a kid and I still don't understand what she's going through as ‘Harry,’ her father. But I have to learn and I have to be educated. I'm enjoying being educated to let people live and be who they what to be and be happy."
Wallace has been in show business for nearly 50 years and spent many years living in New York City.
