We enjoyed several warm days in October, and a few cold ones as well. That’s typical for October, where we see more frequent and sometimes large temperature swings.


What You Need To Know

  • The mean temperature for the month was close to average at 50.6 degrees

  • Highs in the 60s and 70s were commonplace

  • Large temperature swings will continue initially in November, with most days featuring highs above average

8 days featured highs in the 70s with a four-day run of them from Oct. 22-25 while 12 days featured highs in the 60s.

The other 11 days featured highs close to average and even below at times.

The 19th and 20th featured highs only in the 40s. In fact, the airport recorded the first trace of snowfall on the 20th.

Fall foliage was also spectacular, with many areas reaching peak conditions during the second and third weeks.

With all of that said, the month ended up with an average temperature of 50.6 degrees.

That means the month was close to average as far as temperatures go, coming in only 1.6 degrees below average.

November is off to a mild start and there are still some pockets of excellent fall color to enjoy.
