ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Seeing red and blue lights in your rear view mirror on Christmas wasn't necessarily a bad thing for some Rochester residents.
Police cars patrolling the city pulled over drivers on Sunday, but they weren't handing out tickets.
Instead, they handed out Christmas gift baskets.
Refugees from the House of Refuge USA wanted to make the holiday a bit more special for travelers.
Organizers say the giveaway was important because it helps build the bridge between officers and the community.
"Many people have different perspectives on police officers and I want to build a bridge between law enforcement and the community. At the same time, I want to bring a smile to people's face," said organizer Bijaya Khadka.
Christmas cards, candy and cookies were a few of the items included in the gift baskets.
