HENRIETTA, N.Y. — The highly anticipated Roc City Tattoo Expo has returned to the Rochester area.
This year, the convention will be held over three full days from April 7-9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Henrietta. It has grown significantly since it was first started 13 years ago by a local tattoo shop called LoveHate Tattoo.
The expo is a unique opportunity for tattoo enthusiasts and artists to come together and celebrate their love for the art of tattooing. More than 200 tattoo artists from all over the country will be present to showcase their talent and creativity. Attendees can expect to see an eclectic mix of tattoo styles, ranging from traditional to modern and everything in-between.
The Roc City Tattoo Expo offers attendees the opportunity to get tattooed by some of the best artists in the industry. Artists will be available to take walk-ins or you can schedule appointments in advance to ensure they get a chance to work with the artist of your choice. It's great for those looking to add to their tattoo collection or for anyone who wants to get their very first tattoo.
"It's an art form we care a lot about," said Benton Sillick of LoveHate Tattoo. "And, you know, with the explosion of social media, an influx of just like everybody being saturated with everything, we think it's important to have an expo locally that shows people the top-of-the-line, cream-of-the-crop tattooers and what they do and the craft that they care so much about."
In addition to tattooing, the convention also features a variety of vendors selling all kinds of tattoo-related products and merchandise. Attendees will also have the chance to purchase art from talented artists, including paintings, prints and more.
Artists say the convention is not only a celebration of tattooing, but of art in general. They say it showcases creativity, expression and individuality.
