ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Halloween is right around the corner and the Rochester area has plenty of spooky places people can go to get in the spirit of the season.

The Haunted Halloween Trail of New York lists the Rochester Candlelight Ghost Walks as the perfect way to tour it all. Founder Jenni Lynn knows all the stories well. Dressed as the Lady in White, she met with Spectrum News 1 at the "White Lady's Castle" at Durand Eastman Park.

She says the ruins of the so-called castle were originally a wooden hot dog and lemonade stand on top of the stone wall in the early 1900s before eventually being burned down. But now people say a lady in white haunts the area as she looks for her missing daughter.

There have been many sightings, like the story of the three teen ghost hunters who heard something in the woods.

"They don't see anything, but shortly thereafter they hear a woman's voice scream get out," said Lynn. "They did not have to be told twice. The ladies run down the steps, they run to the car, they're safe. The gentleman however was not as fortunate. Something grabbed the back of his shirt collar and began dragging him towards the castle wall."

Also on the tour is The Union Tavern, where ghost sightings, unexplained touches and weird smells have been reported inside the 200-year-old building.

Mount Hope Cemetary, Fairport's Green Lantern Inn and the old carriage house in West Henrietta are also along the ghost walk.

There are plenty of ghost walk events in which to see all of the area's hauntings up through Halloween. For more information, click here.
