ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A specially modified Boeing 727 will be at the Frederick Douglass - Greater Rochester International Airport on Sept. 19 for the ZERO-G Experience. This aircraft will help you feel weightless like an astronaut. You'll be able to float, flip and soar.
Galactic Experiences by DePrez is making this one-of-a-kind ZERO-G Experience aboard G-FORCE ONE, possible with help from the chartered 727 that flies in parabolic arcs.
DePrez Travel president and CEO Craig Curran loves to help people travel anywhere and everywhere, including up. He says this is the only commercial opportunity right now for individuals to enjoy true weightlessness without going to space. He's even been on the flight.
“If I had to use one word it’s giddy,” said Curran. “Everyone is laughing and excited and high-fiving everyone as they are floating about the cabin. It is a very unique experience. Space tourism is here. We will be landing on the moon and building colonies on Mars. This is all happening and this is around the corner and this is the first step for folks to get used to space and the exciting things that are going to come from it.”
The Rochester Museum and Science Center's planetarium director Steve Fentress will be one of the passengers on the Sept. 19 flight. DePrez Travel will donate $500 of every ticket sold, to RMSC in support of STEM education.
“I have heard about people doing this and I never thought it would be me," said Fentress. “I’m going to go as a teacher and report back on ZERO-G and weightlessness in terms of the principles of physics that we have been talking about for years and years and years. I am sure I’m going to discover something that I am not expecting, so I’m sure I will be surprised.”
The ZERO-G flight is $6,900. Your day will last about five hours and includes 12-15 parabolas, your own ZERO-G flight suit and merchandise, a regravitation celebration, certificate of weightless completion, photos and video. You can book your flight now online.
